Day 5: Strengthening and Starting Open Bible Churches

  • Acts 16:4–5 (NIV84) As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey. So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.
  • Titus 1:5 (NIV84) The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.

When we hear the word multiplication, we immediately think about starting new things, but multiplication includes strengthening existing churches that are healthy enough to start new ones. Some of our churches are in seasons of vibrant growth; others may be tired, plateaued, or discouraged. Both matter deeply to the Lord.

“When a church becomes healthy and aligned with God’s mission, multiplication often follows.”

Acts 16:5 says that the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers. Titus was left in Crete to “set in order” what was lacking and appoint elders. Multiplication in the New Testament is not detached from health, order, and strengthening.

During this season of prayer and fasting, ask God to enlarge your heart for the wider Open Bible family. You may know of a nearby Open Bible church that is struggling. You might know of a congregation with a faithful but weary pastor, or a church that has hung on through hard seasons. What if part of your church’s call in this season is to pray for them, encourage them, and stand with them?

At the same time, God may be stirring your church to participate in starting a new work—supporting a church plant, launching a new campus, or partnering with another church to begin something fresh in a neighboring community.

Prayer Focus:

  • Pray by name for at least one Open Bible church and its pastor.
  • Pray for one Open Bible church experiencing growth, asking God to multiply that grace across our movement.
  • Ask God how your church might actively support both strengthening and starting churches.

Día 5: Fortaleciendo e Iniciando Iglesias Open Bible

  • Hechos 16:4–5 (NVI84) Al pasar por las ciudades, entregaban a los creyentes las decisiones que habían tomado los apóstoles y los ancianos en Jerusalén para que las obedecieran. Así que las iglesias se fortalecían en la fe y crecían en número cada día.
  • Tito 1:5 (NVI84) Te dejé en Creta para que pusieras en orden lo que quedaba pendiente y nombraras ancianos en cada ciudad, tal como te lo ordené.

Cuando escuchamos la palabra multiplicación, de inmediato pensamos en comenzar cosas nuevas, pero la multiplicación también incluye fortalecer iglesias existentes que estén lo suficientemente sanas como para iniciar otras nuevas. Algunas de nuestras iglesias atraviesan temporadas de crecimiento vibrante; otras pueden estar cansadas, estancadas o desanimadas. Todas son profundamente importantes para el Señor.

Hechos 16:5 dice que las iglesias se fortalecían en la fe y crecían diariamente en número. Tito fue dejado en Creta para “poner en orden” lo que faltaba y nombrar ancianos. En el Nuevo Testamento, la multiplicación no está separada de la salud, el orden y el fortalecimiento.

Durante esta temporada de oración y ayuno, pide a Dios que ensanche tu corazón por la familia Open Bible en general. Tal vez conoces una iglesia Open Bible cercana que está luchando. Tal vez conoces una congregación con un pastor fiel pero cansado, o una iglesia que ha perseverado a través de temporadas difíciles. ¿Y si parte del llamado de tu iglesia en esta temporada es orar por ellos, animarlos y caminar junto a ellos?

Al mismo tiempo, Dios puede estar despertando a tu iglesia para participar en el inicio de una nueva obra: apoyar una plantación de iglesia, lanzar un nuevo campus o asociarse con otra iglesia para comenzar algo nuevo en una comunidad vecina.

Enfoque de Oración:

  • Ora por nombre por al menos una iglesia Open Bible y su pastor.
  • Ora por una iglesia Open Bible que esté experimentando crecimiento, pidiendo a Dios que multiplique esa gracia en todo nuestro movimiento.
  • Pide a Dios que te muestre cómo tu iglesia puede apoyar activamente tanto el fortalecimiento como el inicio de iglesias.
